Construction of footpaths on an international scale!

Tmedia, October 26, Hyderabad Bureau: The newly formed Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) with the IT corridor is focusing on developing footpaths along the main roads on the lines of Hi-Tech City and Financial District. Along with completing the work of widening the roads, CMC Commissioner Dr. Srujana has decided to construct footpaths on both sides of these roads with world-class standards. Several road routes have already been selected for this purpose.

Currently, works worth Rs. 2 thousand crores are being carried out under Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-City) under CMC to utilize the ADB loan facility
. CMC has planned to raise funds through bank loans to implement other projects. At the same time, ADB bank representatives have requested to submit loan proposals. With this, the Commissioner has prepared a comprehensive plan to utilize this opportunity.

To this end, roads with high traffic congestion have been selected. Currently, the engineering department is preparing designs for the development of these roads. The list of development works under the CMC scope currently includes the metro corridor as well as roads where expansion work is underway. CMC officials say that lane markings, zebra crossings, and footpath ramps will be installed and made available near junctions to enable pedestrians to cross the road safely and easily.

Preparations for the establishment of parks and flood water canals:
The authorities have decided to develop 350 vacant plots with only boundary walls as parks within the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation. As part of this, their designs are being finalized and will be submitted to the ADB soon. In addition, the authorities are preparing plans for the development of a flood water system on both sides of the national highways and the restoration of existing drains.
